The Umbrella Cover Museum in Bristol

The Umbrella Cover Museum, a quirky and unique museum on Peaks Island, was on display for two weeks in Bristol, England in September, 2017. Director and Curator, Nancy 3. Hoffman, fulfilled her long-time goal of a British “pop-up” museum. “Where else would umbrella covers be more appreciated than England?” she said. The exhibit was at “Centrespace Gallery” in central Bristol. “I displayed a map showing Maine and England, so people had an idea of how far we had come.” “Celebrate the mundane” is the motto of the museum. It took all summer and lots of volunteer help to create new exhibits for England, involving over 300 covers. They were on canvas panels and fit in 2 suitcases.
